Suspect arrested after fatal Pelican Narrows shooting as RCMP promise increased presence
The suspect in Monday’s fatal shooting in Pelican Narrows was arrested at a residence in the community approximately five hours after the incident began, RCMP confirmed Tuesday.
Police said officers responded to a report of a shooting near the local health centre at approximately 1:56 p.m. Monday. Investigators determined two adults were shot at separate locations along the same road, a short distance apart.
A woman was declared dead at the scene while a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Formal identification of the deceased is ongoing in consultation with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
“First of all, my thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased and the injured and all those affected by this tragic event,” said Inspector Ashley St. Germaine, acting officer in charge of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch.
