PBCN leaders respond to fatal shooting in Pelican Narrows, plan trip to Ottawa
Residents in Pelican Narrows, about 4 hours northeast of Prince Albert near Creighton, are traumatized after a shooting incident on Monday that left a young woman dead and another person in hospital.
Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) Chief Peter Beatty made the comment during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. According to the latest information from RCMP, the person or persons responsible have not been located.
“They are still very much concerned. You know, a lot of them are fearful and apprehensive about going anywhere,” Beatty said about the current climate in the community.
While police have not revealed any details about the victim other than her age, sources close to the deceased victim have identified her to paNOW as 28-year-old Kianna Custer. The motive for the shooting is not known.
