Spartans football team begins road to 2026 title with home opener, repeat showdowns

The Carpenter Spartans will begin the 2026 football season at home before navigating a regular-season schedule featuring two meetings each with the John Paul II Crusaders and Kindersley Kobras ahead of the provincial playoffs.

The schedule, released recently, opens with a non-conference game against the Bonnyville Voyageurs at 1 p.m. on Aug. 29 at Lion’s Park Field.

Carpenter’s conference schedule begins Sept. 4 with a home matchup against the Humboldt Mohawks before the Spartans travel to face the John Paul II Crusaders on Sept. 10 and the Indian Head Broncos on Sept. 17.

The Spartans then return to Lion’s Park Field for consecutive home games against the Kindersley Kobras on Sept. 25 and John Paul II on Oct. 1.

The regular season concludes with back-to-back road games against the Kindersley Kobras on Oct. 9 and the Delisle Rebels on Oct. 16.

Carpenter will play eight games in total, including the non-conference opener, with four at Lion’s Park Field and four on the road.

The postseason begins with the conference playoff on Oct. 24, followed by the provincial quarterfinal on Oct. 31, the provincial semifinal on Nov. 7 and the provincial final on Nov. 14.

The Spartans’ 2026 schedule:

Aug. 29: vs. Bonnyville Voyageurs (non-conference), 1 p.m.
Sept. 4: vs. Humboldt Mohawks, 4 p.m.
Sept. 10: at John Paul II Crusaders, 4 p.m.
Sept. 17: at Indian Head Broncos, 7 p.m.
Sept. 25: vs. Kindersley Kobras, 4:30 p.m.
Oct. 1: vs. John Paul II Crusaders, 4 p.m.
Oct. 9: at Kindersley Kobras, 7 p.m.
Oct. 16: at Delisle Rebels, 4 p.m.
