Canada’s first FIFA World Cup knockout stage match in Los Angles on Sunday ended in a 1-0 victory, with the country taking on South Africa in a highly anticipated showdown.
A late goal from Stephen Eustáquio sealed the win for Team Canada, who are now off to the round of 16, where they’ll play the winner of Netherlands and Morocco.
Canada reached the knockout stage of the tournament for the first time despite a 2-1 loss in Vancouver to Switzerland.
Captain Alphonso Davies, who has missed all three group-stage games due to a hamstring injury, joined the game in the second half.
