RM of Meadow Lake declares state of emergency as province responds to flooding

The Rural Municipality of Meadow Lake is among 13 Saskatchewan communities that have declared a local state of emergency as provincial officials continue responding to flooding in parts of the province.

In a flooding update issued at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) said it is working with multiple agencies, including the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline and the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency, in response to flooding conditions across Saskatchewan.

Other affected communities include the towns of Kamsack, Raymore and Norquay; the rural municipalities of Sliding Hills, Wolverine, Insinger, St. Philips, Livingston and Cote; the villages of Sheho and Togo; and Keeseekoose First Nation.

The agency said it is in contact with each of the affected communities and is providing equipment resources, including pumps, hoses and sandbags, to support local flood response efforts.
