RCMP seek public’s help locating robbery suspect

Onion Lake RCMP are asking the public to report sightings of 28-year-old Dakota Whitstone. 

On July 31, at around 11:55 p.m., RCMP received a report of a robbery on Onion Lake Cree Nation. Investigation determined a man approached a victim, assaulted them, threatened them with a firearm and stole their phone. The suspect then fled in a vehicle. 

Officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop. Officers continued patrolling but did not locate it. 

As a result of continued investigation, RCMP have charged Whitstone with seven assault and robbery related charges. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Onion Lake RCMP are working to locate him. Officers ask anyone who sees him or has information on his whereabouts to call police.
