Canadian national team defender Moïse Bombito is set to undergo surgery on his left tibia once again, his club team Nice announced Wednesday.

The Ligue 1 team in France said the Montreal native was dealing with chronic pain that prompted a scan on his leg before determining surgery to be the next step.

Bombito initially fractured his tibia on Oct. 5 but came back in time to compete for Canada at the FIFA World Cup this summer.

The 26-year-old played in three of Canada’s five games, with two starts, as Canada fell to Morocco in the quarterfinals.
