Meadow Lake girl swims 2.5 kilometres to raise money for shelter animals
Eleven-year-old Sloane Reid swam across Greig Lake, raised $300 for shelter animals and then delivered a matter-of-fact assessment of the feat.
“I didn’t really find it hard, but it was tiring,” she said.
Her father, Layne Reid, estimated the crossing at just under 2.5 kilometres. Sloane has been part of Meadow Lake’s Manta Ray swim club since 2022 and has participated in competitive swimming.
At first, there was no fundraiser, just a lake Sloane wanted to cross.
