Updated Meadow Lake zoning bylaw, community plan open for feedback

The City of Meadow Lake is seeking public feedback as it resumes work on its Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw.

The update began in 2023 with a community survey but was delayed for more than a year following the departure of the previous city manager, the move into the new Co-op Centre. The project is now back on track, with adoption of the updated documents anticipated by the end of 2026.

The city said its existing planning documents are out of date and no longer work well for the community. The review has included input from residents, neighbouring communities, city staff and council, with Associated Engineering hired to guide the process and ensure it meets provincial requirements.

Most existing zoning regulations have been carried forward into the draft bylaw, with updates made to improve clarity and align with current legislation. Other significant changes are proposed in response to resident requests and deficiencies in the current bylaw.
