Meadow Lake’s Senger to join top bull riders for Edmonton team battle

Oct 1, 2026 | 5:08 PM

Meadow Lake’s Marshall Senger will compete alongside three of PBR Canada’s top six riders at a team bull-riding event in Edmonton next week.

The 21-year-old is one of six professionals named to the Buck Your Own Bull Battle on Oct. 9 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, part of the Cinch Canadian Country Expo.

Each professional will team up with an emerging rider to compete for a share of a $25,000 purse. Both riders’ scores count toward their team total, and the professional chooses the bull their team will face, according to PBR Canada.

Senger sits 14th in the PBR Canada national standings with 296 points, 13 successful rides in 44 attempts and $14,586.38 in earnings. He won his first PBR Canada title in April, going two-for-two at the Moose Jaw PBR Challenge before a sold-out crowd.

The Edmonton appearance follows his Sept. 19 win at Last Cowboy Standing in Strathmore, Alta., where he rode all three bulls and sealed the title with an 83-point ride on Wacky Mojo.

His competition in Edmonton includes Brazil’s Gilmar Santana and Francisco Costa, Quebec’s Jeremy Maisonneuve and Alberta riders Tyler Craig and Ashton Sahli.

Santana ranks second in the national standings, followed by Craig in fifth and Costa in sixth. Maisonneuve is ninth and Sahli is 17th.

Santana has completed 32 successful rides in 52 attempts and earned $71,160.44. Costa has completed 23 successful rides in 46 attempts and earned $24,854.50, while Craig has completed 12 successful rides in 44 attempts and earned $30,927.13.

The Bull Battle begins at 3 p.m. and will also feature Bullfighters Only freestyle bullfighting.
