Canada’s Paula Findlay takes underdog role into Ironman world championship debut
Paula Findlay feels like a rookie after two decades in triathlon, which she says is a good place to be.
The 37-year-old from Edmonton won the first Ironman triathlon she entered, which punched her ticket for the biggie — Saturday’s world championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
“This race is a big deal,” Findlay said.
The 3.8-kilometre swim, 180k bike and marathon run is still a new distance for Findlay, who has excelled at shorter triathlons.
