Theme, “Many Hands”

“Many Hands” represents a powerful image of living in a community where everyone is included, valued and seen as a teacher & learner. Community Education is a concept that recognizes the informal & formal learning opportunities within our community and gives equal value to them. We will explore the many ways that we can create learning opportunities in our schools, workplaces, groups, organizations, families, and celebrate the many hands that it takes to guide us on our path to lifelong learning!

The Many Hands Conference will highlight practical examples of how Schools and Communities are working together to improve learning outcomes, increase learning opportunities for the community, innovate, collaborate and communicate! You will have many ideas, examples and inspiring stories to take back to your community!

Community Education is defined as “Schools and Communities working together, utilizing their common resources to promote learning and citizenship building”

You will see the theme, Many Hands, come to life as you experience the artwork and imaginative interpretation of school children and senior’s/elders in our community. Led by artist, Leah Dorion, students and the community at large, will be creating public art to adorn the conference space! You will have a chance to try your hand at the public art station next to Leah’s table!
