Tweed store now open in Meadow Lake

May 23, 2019 | 2:00 PM

Meadow Lake’s first cannabis shop opened Thursday.

About 20 people walked through the doors at 10 a.m. for the opening of Tweed located on 101 Centre Street.

“This is definitely a very exciting time,” Margo Mulitsa, the Alberta and Saskatchewan district sales manager for Tweed, said. “We have made sure that we checked off everything on our list to make sure we are in the right place for our guests to visit. And so we are ready for them.”

Tweed is owned and operated by the Ontario-based Canopy Growth Corporation and Mulitsa said they have learned a lot since legalization.

“We’ve had our learnings since we’ve opened our first store. The supply chain is in a different position than it was seven months ago,” Mulitsa said. “I believe our company has done a really great job analyzing the trends and so we are in a really great position to open our store.”

The opening of the store in Meadow Lake was delayed and Mulitsa said part of the delays was ensuring their staff was properly informed on the products and would be able to educate customers.

“One of the reasons is we want to do all the right things and our teams are truly ready to welcome our guests and provide the right education and be the right member of the community,” Mulitsa said. “The store is set up making sure we hired the right people and making sure we educate them has definitely been a priority.”

Tweed is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Sunday.
