Meadow Lake Fire Chief looks back at 2019

Dec 30, 2019 | 12:00 PM

The City of Meadow Lake Fire Department reflects on some of their highlights in 2019.

“We had a busy and eventful year,” Fire Chief Neil Marsh told meadowlakeNOW in an email.

Marsh said the first-ever Junior Firefighter program last winter was a success. Several high school students from around the region took part.

“We hope to make that an annual event,” he said.

The fire department also held its first regional firefighter training weekend in September, with several fire departments from around the region participating.

“Our community’s emergency management and disaster preparedness has been taking great leaps forward over the last couple of years,” Marsh said. “We had several excellent training sessions and community engagement events.”

In addition, Marsh said the new Fire Prevention bylaw was adopted this year, which will help improve public safety in coming years.

Meadow Lake Fire Department 2019 Annual Report will be out in the coming weeks.
