Province reports 74 new cases of COVID-19, 34 people in hospital

There are 74 new cases of COVID-19 to report, bringing the provincial total to 3,292.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (one), North West (five), North Central (22), North East (one), Saskatoon (18), Central West (one), Central East (one), and Regina (14) zones.

There are 11 cases reported today that have pending residence locations. One reported on Oct. 21 was assigned to the North West zone.

Of the total cases, 858 are considered active. There have been 2,409 recoveries with 14 new recoveries added today.

There are 34 people in hospital. Twenty-seven people are receiving inpatient care with two in the North West, seven in the North Central, one in the North East, 11 in the Saskatoon and six in the Regina zone. Seven people are in intensive care; two in the North Central, four in Saskatoon and one in Regina.

Of the total cases, 371 are travellers, 1,581 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 801 have no known exposures and 539 are under investigation by local public health.

In the province, 101 cases are healthcare workers, but the source of infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.

There are 661 cases involving people 19 years old and under. The remainder are adults.

There are 1,207 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 929 in the 40 to 59 age range, 412 in the 60 to 79 age range, and 83 are in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty per cent of cases are females and 50 per cent are males.

There are 25 deaths related to COVID-19 that have been reported to date.

There are:

  • 845 cases from the Saskatoon area
  • 671 cases from the north area (204 north west, 328 north central, 139 north east)
  • 504 cases from the south area (230 south west, 215 south central, 59 south east)
  • 446 cases from the far north area (392 far north west, 0 far north central, 54 far north east)
  • 428 cases from the Regina area
  • 385 cases from the central area (197 central west, 188 central east)
  • 13 cases have pending residence location

So far, there have been 268,166 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. Yesterday 2,363 tests were performed in Saskatchewan.

NITHA communities

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority released their daily COVID-19 update that are specific to their communities.

According to their Facebook page, there are seven cases active in the Far North West (two of which is in hospital), four cases are active in the Far North East, 18 cases are active in the North Central, and 23 cases are active in the North East, two of which are in hospital.

There are 174 cases recovered.

NITHA is comprised of the Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, and Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
