Man accused of sending mail bomb to his brother in B.C. dies awaiting trial

WHITEHORSE — Yukon’s chief coroner says a man accused of mailing a bomb to his brother on Vancouver Island has died.

Heather Jones says 73-year-old Leon Nepper went into medical distress at Whitehorse Correctional Centre on Sunday.

Nepper was taken to hospital but died that afternoon.

On Friday, two more charges were laid against him for a total of four charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault and possessing and sending an explosive device.
