COVID update: 60 new cases, one new death

The province is reporting 60 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 50,181 reported cases; 483 are considered active cases and 49,119 are considered recovered.

Of the new cases, 29 are being reported in Northern Saskatchewan in the Far North West (14), Far North Central (two), Far North East (six), North West (two), and North Central (five).

One new death was reported today bringing the provincial total to 579 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died. The case fatality rate in the province is 1.2 per cent.

Over the last month, the province has seen a 34 per cent increase in active cases from 360 reported on July 4.

Of the cases that are currently active, 271 cases have been identified in Northern Saskatchewan zones.

An additional 1,057 new doses of the COVID vaccine brings the provincial total to 1,418,959 doses. This number includes 655,083 residents who are now fully vaccinated in the province.

As of Aug. 3, the Saskatchewan government is changing the way they report the provincial COVID-19 statistics.
