Province reports 4,788 active cases in Saskatchewan, 398 new cases reported today

The province reported another 398 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today; nearly 84 per cent of which are among the unvaccinated.

Also among the new cases, 65 per cent of people with COVID in the province are under the age of 40, including 87 cases alone between the ages of 0-11.

These new numbers today brings the total to 65,897 reported cases in the province, 4,788 that are currently active.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (19), Far North East (14), North West (32), North Central (43), and North East (16).

Of the current active cases of COVID-19 across the province, 37 per cent are in Northern Saskatchewan zones with 1,791 active cases in six zones. (Government of Saskatchewan)

Nearly one-third (32.4 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

One in six (16.4 per cent) new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Sept. 27, a total of 289 individuals are being hospitalized; including 226 inpatient hospitalizations and 63 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 287 patients eligible for vaccination, 225 (78.4 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

Two new deaths reported today in the province bring the total of Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died to 672 and a provincial fatality rate of 1.0 per cent.

NITHA Data

There are 24 new cases to report on Sept. 26 in NITHA communities; 17 (71 per cent) were unvaccinated, six (25 per cent) are partially vaccinated and one (four per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 249 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 10; Far North West, 69; Far North East, 126; North Central, 32; and North East, 12. There has now been 5,636 cases (95 per cent) that have recovered, and 14 people are hospitalized.
