Proof of vaccination soon needed for driver’s test

People looking to take a driver’s test in Saskatchewan will now need to prove their fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) announced on Thursday they will start needing proof on October 25 to ensure all guests and examiners are as safe as possible from the virus.

“Providing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is now standard practice to access many businesses, services, and venues,” said Penny McCune, chief operating officer for the Auto Fund.

“This will improve safety for our customers and employees.”

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, those between the ages of 12 and 30 make up the highest population of unvaccinated individuals.

The SGI said over half of test takers in the last year have been 19 or younger, while 38 per cent were between the ages of 20 and 30.

They added their employees also need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a recent negative test result.
