Province reports 49 new cases of COVID-19, one death

The Government of Saskatchewan has reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 in the province along with 49 recoveries.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are found in the Far North West (three), North West (two), North Central (one), and North East (two).

One new death was reported, with a total of 942 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 that have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

In total, 548 cases are considered active and 80,579 cases are considered recovered. Almost one-third (32.7 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39. More than one-half (56.5 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged five years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of today, a total of 107 people are in hospital including 33 in the ICU. Of the 107 patients, 65 (60.7 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

NITHA data

As of Dec. 17, there are no new cases to report today in NITHA communities, as active cases stand at six.

All the active cases are in the Far North West region.

There are 6,873 cases (99 per cent) that have recovered. There are currently no hospitalizations.
