Several highways closed around Battlefords

The highways surrounding Meadow Lake and Battlefords are open, except for a section of Highway 376 northbound from Highway 40 to Mayfair in the east, and west along Highway 324 from the Green Canyon area.

Despite the openings, all roadways in and out of the Battleford area are marked as having reduced visibility according to the Highway Hotline. Prior to driving, it is recommended to check the Highway Hotline website, here.

As of 6:30 a.m., highway 16 and 40 east and highway 4 north are closed.

A large swath of central Saskatchewan is under various weather warnings, with the Battlefords under a winter storm warning. Environment Canada issued the storm warning at 3:16 a.m. According to Environment Canada, heavy snow and strong winds will continue all morning but should ease this afternoon.
