UPDATE: Pierceland RCMP arrest woman wanted on warrants, new charges of assault on police

UPDATE: On Sept. 21, Pierceland RCMP located Ramona Ochuschayoo at a residence on Big Island Lake Cree Nation.

When attending the home, officers found a woman hiding inside. The woman provided police with a fake name, then resisted and kicked them during her arrest. The officers were not seriously harmed. Ochuschayoo was charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

She appeared in court Monday, Sept. 22 to face these new charges along with the other warrants.

Pierceland RCMP are asking the public to report any sightings of a woman wanted in connection with a serious assault on Big island Lake Cree Nation.

Officers responded to a report of an assault on the First Nation around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 31. A male victim was taken to hospital with what were described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators allege 31-year-old Ramona Ochuschayoo of Big Island Lake Cree Nation assaulted the man and have charged her with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of a firearm without a licence, and failing to comply with a release order.

A warrant has been issued for her arrest and officers are actively trying to locate her.

She is described as 5-4, about 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair that may be bleached blonde or orange.

Police caution the public not to approach Ochuschayoo if she is seen. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pierceland RCMP by calling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
