A 34-year-old RCMP officer from Quebec is facing a charge of uttering threats after allegedly making threatening comments online, directed towards U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the RCMP, Evenson Dumerlus, from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, allegedly shared the comments on his Snapchat account while he was working security at the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alta., in June of 2025.

“The investigation was taken over by the Special investigations Unit after an RCMP officer reported the video,” the RCMP said in a statement.

“After reviewing the evidence, investigators acted quickly, and Mr. Dumerlus was removed from his duties on the same day as the incident.”
