Highway closed after serious crash near Frenchman Butte

A stretch of Highway 797 near Frenchman Butte closed Thursday afternoon after a serious collision, causing detours and traffic delays in the area.

Onion Lake RCMP said officers were called to the scene and the investigation remains in its early stages. 

Police had not released information about the number of vehicles involved, possible injuries or the cause of the collision as of Thursday afternoon.

The highway will be closed for an undetermined amount of time while emergency crews respond.
