40-foot flame expected east of Meadow Lake during planned gas flaring
Residents and drivers east of Meadow Lake may see a 40-foot flame near the pulp mill as SaskEnergy carries out planned maintenance on its natural gas system.
The controlled flaring is scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at a block valve site in the RM of Meadow Lake, about nine kilometres east of the city and adjacent to the pulp mill.
SaskEnergy said the timing could change depending on operating requirements.
The utility will isolate part of the gas line and remove natural gas from it so maintenance can be completed. The gas will be burned in a controlled process known as flaring.
