Handcuffed man escapes RCMP custody, search continues near Loon Lake

A 20-year-old man remains at large after escaping RCMP custody while in handcuffs following a traffic stop on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation early Sunday morning.

Loon Lake RCMP said officers stopped a car at about 4 a.m. on July 19 and determined a man inside, Navarone Singer, was breaching the conditions of a release order. 

After arresting Singer for failing to comply with those conditions, officers were escorting him to a police vehicle when he fled into a wooded area while still in handcuffs. Officers pursued him on foot but were unable to locate him. 

The search has continued with assistance from RCMP’s Meadow Lake Police Dog Services, the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), Pierceland RCMP and the Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team. Officers have also been checking locations Singer is known to frequent.
