Havanna Demers reflects on bout with world-class boxer
Havanna Demers continued her boxing journey south of the border over the weekend, travelling to Oklahoma City for the Rival Boxing Championships.
After receiving a bye to the final, Demers faced a tough opponent in Brijhana Epperson – the No. 1-ranked amateur featherweight in North America. Although Demers dropped the contest, she was pleased with her performance after giving her opponent a run for her money.
“Brijhana came in and she was trying to blitz me and knock me out. As the fight was going on, I was figuring it out. I was moving my head, making her slip punches and landing my own.”
Demers’s father and coach, Quenten Demers, said the biggest shot of the fight caused a brief stoppage.
