Family Fun Day raising money for Meadow Lake & District Humane Society

May 31, 2021 | 3:17 PM

In the final event of the school year, the Meadow Lake RCMP’s Youth Advisory Committee is organizing a Family Fun Day that will help raise funding for the Meadow Lake & District Humane Society.

Family Fun Day will run on June 6 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. at Lions Park. The event provides families in the community with free outdoor activities to do while supporting one of the community’s most essential services.

Community Program Officer Maryah Walker explains several businesses and non-profits will be in attendance to provide the activities.

“The idea is that families come to the park like they normally would, walk along the walking path, and as you’re walking along, will have an opportunity to engage with a number of different programs and services that day, do activities together as a family, and do something that is free or low cost to their family, as well as bringing people together in a safe manner and respecting COVID guidelines,” Walker said.

Positively Parenting, Meadow Lake Early Years Family Resource Centre, KidsFirst Meadow Lake, North West Friendship Centre, Gateway Regional Victims Services, the Meadow Lake RCMP and Jubilee Community School will be on site providing free family entertainment.

Ranch animals will be present at the event from Kelly Friedrich, and Karlee Mazuren will be providing dog treats and nail trims with a portion of the proceeds going to the Humane Society.

Aurora Cinemas, Crazy to the Core, Sweet Treatz Ice Cream Shop, Chalk Couture and the Meadow Lake Co-op will provide food and other sources of entertainment with those proceeds also being directed toward the Meadow Lake Humane Society.

If anyone would like to volunteer for this event, they can contact Walker at (306) 930-6464 for more details.
