‘We are over capacity’: Twenty-one cats abandoned outside Lloydminster shelter
Twenty-one cats were abandoned outside Lloydminster’s Border Paws Animal Shelter in Rubbermaid totes Wednesday, forcing staff to find space and care for the animals despite already-limited resources.
In a social media post, the shelter said it does not have room for the animals and is now working to secure housing, supplies, veterinary care and foster placements.
“Not to mention, animal abandonment may constitute an offence under provincial animal welfare legislation and can be investigated by the authorities,” the post said.
The organization said the unexpected intake has increased demands on shelter resources.
