Tibetan monks visit Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation
The Cree Nation and Tibetan Buddhism.
Two cultures very far apart from one another geographically, but two that share a lot of similar beliefs and practices.
That’s why Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation invited a group of 10 monks from the Chinese province of Tibet to come here to Saskatchewan for a series of shared prayers to heal both the earth and their community, along with sharing some fun stories and experiences along the way.
Surrounded by members of the Cree Nation, Tibetan monks perform a ceremony to offer healing prayers to the Water Spirit in hopes the spirit will offer healing to the community in return. The monks chant a mix of Tibetan and Sanskrit for over half hour.
