Meadow Lake flood victims can now apply for provincial disaster assistance
Residents dealing with uninsurable property damage from last month’s severe storm can now seek provincial disaster assistance after Meadow Lake’s application for the program was approved.
The city announced Thursday that its application under Saskatchewan’s Provincial Disaster Assistance Program, or PDAP has been approved for the heavy rain and plow wind storm that hit the area on July 18 and 19.
The program provides financial assistance to property owners, renters, small business owners and non-profit organizations for eligible damage that is not covered by insurance.
PDAP is intended to help restore property and principal residences to their pre-disaster condition when insurance coverage is unavailable. Applicants must first file a claim with their private insurer and obtain a written letter outlining their coverage or confirming that the specific loss was denied.
