382 new cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths in Saskatchewan

The Government of Saskatchewan is reporting 382 new cases of COVID-19 and four deaths in the province Friday.

As of January 15, a total of 14,017 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Saskatchewan.

Two thousand and thirty-two doses were administered in Saskatchewan but in the north regions there were 549 in the North Central, Far North West (191), Far North East (30) and North East (202) zones. Numbers from the Far North Central zone have not yet been reported.

Second doses of Pfizer vaccine are now underway for health care workers in Saskatoon, with vaccination of residents and staff in long term and personal care homes in Saskatoon proceeding.

The vaccine clinics announced earlier this week in the North Central communities of Wakaw, Cudworth, Rosthern, Big River, Canwood, Shellbrook, Birch Hills, Debden, Blaine Lake, Candle Lake and Christopher Lake are fully booked. Additional clinics will be scheduled as quickly as possible following the sequencing of priority populations in those zones with high active case rates. Daily COVID-19 Statistics

There are 382 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on January 15, 2021, bringing the provincial total to date to 19,715 cases.

Four Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Two new deaths in the 60 to 69 age group were reported in the North East (one) and South East (one) zones. Two new deaths in the 80+ age group were reported in the Saskatoon (one) and South East (one) zones.

The new cases in the north regions are located in the Far North West (46), Far North Central (two), Far North East (24), North West (45), North Central (38), North East (36), and 10 new cases have pending residence information.

Four cases tested out of province were found to be Saskatchewan residents and added to the counts in the Far North West (two), Far North East (one) and North West (one) zones.

Thirteen cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (six); Far North East (two); North Central (one); North East (one); and Regina (three) zones.

A total of 15,495 individuals have recovered and 4,010 cases are considered active.

Two hundred and 10 people are in hospital. One hundred and seventy-five people are receiving inpatient care but in the northern regions there are: Far North West (three), Far North Central (two), Far North East (one), North West (11), North Central (36), and North East (14). Those in intensive care in the northern regions are North West (two), and North Central (five).

There were 3,455 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on January 14, 2021.

To date, 465,390 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. As of January 13, 2021 when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 270,524 people tested per million population. The national rate was 395,617 people tested per million population.

NITHA communities

According to the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority’s (NITHA) Facebook page, as of Jan. 14 there are 641 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central, Athabasca (41), Far North West (153), Far North East (278), North Central (77), and North East (92).

There are 1,192 cases (65 per cent) recovered, and eight people are currently in hospital.
