UPDATED: Both suspects now charged with second-degree murder in the death of Antoine Hamm

Meadow Lake RCMP have upgraded the charges against a man previously charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of Antoine Hamm.
On Thursday, 42-year-old Derek Lasas had his charge of manslaughter with a firearm changed to second-degree murder. At the time of his arrest, Lasas was previously charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, which was later upgraded to manslaughter with a firearm after Hamm succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Lasas’s second-degree murder charge is the second to be handed down in the case after 42-year-old Logan Lapratt also had his initial charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm with intent upgraded.
Lasas is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on April 21.

Police have updated charges for two men arrested after the victim in a shooting on Waterhen Lake First Nation on Feb. 8 died in hospital.
In a news release on Feb. 17, Saskatchewan RCMP said shooting victim 29-year-old Antoine Hamm from Waterhen Lake First Nation died on Feb. 13 and the two men previously arrested were now facing further charges.
Police said one of the men was now charged with second-degree murder after being previously charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm with intent; while the second man was now charged with manslaughter with a firearm after previously being charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in a vehicle.
Police earlier said the men were arrested without incident on Feb. 8, are both aged 42 and also from Waterhen Lake First Nation.
The two men, who earlier appeared in court on Feb. 10, are now scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Feb. 18 to face the upgraded charges.
Waterhen Lake First Nation is about 70 km north of Meadow Lake.
