Dec 9, 2025 | 9:41 PM

RCMP have charged a 38-year-old Lloydminster man after officers seized multiple firearms during a search warrant connected to threats of violence toward identifiable groups.

Police say members of the Lloydminster Crime Reduction Unit executed the warrant at a home on Dec. 2 as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers located several firearms and what they describe as additional evidence relevant to the case.

John Charles Reid is charged with unauthorized possession of firearms, unsafe storage of firearms and wilful promotion of hatred. RCMP say Reid was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Jan. 12.

“This investigation reflects our continued commitment to ensuring the safety of our community and responding decisively to threats of violence or hate,” said Sgt. Christopher Byford, acting operations NCO with the Lloydminster RCMP.

“We take any form of hate-motivated communication or violence-related behaviour seriously.”

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Lloydminster RCMP at 306-825-6350. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app.
